Apac District, Uganda – July 10th, 2025 – The Ministry of Health, in partnership with the Apac District Local Government, conducted a site meeting at Apac General Hospital to assess the progress of the ongoing construction of a modern medicine store. The facility, once completed, will significantly improve the hospital’s capacity to safely store and manage medical supplies, ultimately enhancing health service delivery for the people of Apac and the surrounding areas.
The meeting brought together key stakeholders, including representatives from the Ministry of Health, the Chief Administrative Office, the Apac District Health Office, the Resident District Commissioner, the District Chairperson, the District Engineering Department, the project contractor, supervising consultants, and technical staff from Community and Natural Resources.

As of the date of the meeting, the construction is reported to be at 50% completion, with major works, including, e.g., foundation works, walling, roofing, etc., already finalized.
The Deputy Resident District Commissioner, Ms. Joan Apio, commended the progress made and urged the contractor to maintain the pace and quality of work.
“This medicine store is a critical investment in our health infrastructure. We expect timely completion so that it begins serving our people as soon as possible,” she remarked.
The District Health Officer, Dr. Odongo Daniel James, emphasized the importance of the store in strengthening the hospital's pharmaceutical storage and logistics systems.
“With this modern facility, we will have improved storage conditions for essential medicines, minimizing stock-outs and enhancing drug safety and accessibility,” he said.
