Apac District Budget Set to Rise to Shs34.9bn After New Government Planning Figures

Apac District is set to receive a larger development budget in the next financial year after updated government planning figures projected an increase in the district’s resource envelope following the release of the Second Budget Call Circular (BCC).
District Planner Benedict Agunsi revealed that the district’s indicative planning figure has increased to UGX 34,889,737,085, representing a rise of over UGX 2 billion compared to the current 2025/2026 financial year budget.
According to Agunsi, the increased allocation will strengthen the district’s ability to expand development programs and improve service delivery across key sectors.
“This revised allocation gives us more planning certainty and the opportunity to strengthen interventions that directly benefit communities,” he said.
Following the release of the updated figures, the District Planning Unit has begun harmonizing departmental work plans to align them with the new resource ceiling after presenting the planning framework to the District Technical Planning Committee.
Priority investments under the upcoming budget are expected to focus on health and education services, agricultural production and marketing, infrastructure development, and governance programs aimed at improving livelihoods and accelerating socio-economic transformation.
Agunsi emphasized that proper prioritization and prudent utilization of resources will be critical to ensure value for money.
He urged heads of departments to prepare realistic and cost-effective work plans aligned with national development priorities and local government planning frameworks.
The Budget Call Circular, issued annually by the Ministry of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development, guides local governments in preparing their budget estimates by providing updated expenditure ceilings and planning guidelines ahead of the national budgeting process.
District leaders say the improved resource outlook will help accelerate ongoing projects while also creating room for new strategic investments to strengthen development and service delivery in Apac District.
