Apac District Hands Over Education Project Sites Worth UGX 224.9 Million

Apac District Local Government has officially handed over five sites for the implementation of education infrastructure projects worth UGX 224,876,723 million under the Education Sector for FY 2025/2026, in a move aimed at improving learning conditions across selected primary schools.

The handover exercise signals the commencement of works to be undertaken by contracted firms, with all projects expected to be completed within 30 days.

Speaking during the handover, Mr. Elyak Bosco, District Education Officer, emphasized that the investments reflect the district’s commitment to strengthening the environment through improved sanitation facilities and classroom infrastructure to enhance teaching and learning outcomes.

Projects Handed Over
1. Abutaber Primary School, Renovation of a classroom block at 62,722,192 to Bonasa Construction Co. Ltd.
2. Adem Primary School, 5-stance drainable pit latrine at 34,368,000 to Step Ent. Co. Ltd 
3. Chegere Primary School, 5-stance drainable pit latrine at 34,861,831 to Genrwot Engineering company
4. Teboke Primary School, Renovation of a classroom block at 41,830,000 to Dengk Company Ltd.
5. Ololango Annex Primary School, Expansion & finishing a classroom block at 82,025,900 to Timnyang Company Ltd.
 

The Principal Assistant Secretary, Ms. Janet Odongo Akech, representing CAO, urged the contractors to work within the timeline and use materials specified in the BoQ.

“As mentioned by the engineer, if we discover that the material being used is not the one in the BoQ, we shall recommend for destruction and then start afresh,” Odongo stated. 

The Resident District Commissioner, Andrew Onyuk, urged the contractors to adhere to agreed timelines, maintain quality standards, and ensure value for money in project execution. He also called on the school administrators and community stakeholders to support supervision and safeguard the facilities during and after construction.

The initiative is expected to ease congestion in classrooms, improve sanitation and hygiene in schools, and create a more conducive learning environment for pupils across the benefiting institutions.
