Apac District Council Approves New Members to District Service Commission and Hospital Board

Apac District Council has approved the appointment of two new members to the District Service Commission and five members to the Apac General Hospital Board during a council meeting held on 10th February 2026 at the Apac District Council Hall.
The approvals were made in accordance with the Local Government Act, aimed at strengthening service delivery and enhancing governance structures within the District.
The two newly approved members of the District Service Commission (Acura Patrick George and Okunyu Alex Billy) are expected to play a critical role in overseeing recruitment, confirmation, promotion, and disciplinary control of district public servants. Councillors emphasized the importance of integrity, transparency, and professionalism in executing their mandate to ensure that competent and qualified personnel are entrusted with public service positions.
Speaking during the session, district leaders underscored the need for the Commission to uphold merit-based recruitment to improve efficiency and accountability across all departments of the district.
In the same sitting, the Council approved five members to serve on the Apac Hospital Board (Abwang David as Chairperson, Konga Margret, Loote Prassede, and Abongo Robert as members, and Hon. Tyan Denis as the councillor representative to the board). The board is mandated to oversee the administration and management of Apac General Hospital, ensuring improved healthcare services, proper utilization of resources, and effective supervision of hospital operations.
Council members noted that strengthening the hospital board will enhance oversight, promote better coordination between hospital management and the district leadership, and ultimately improve service delivery to the people of Apac.
The Chairperson of the District Council urged the newly approved members to serve with dedication and put the interests of the community first. He reiterated the district's commitment to strengthening institutions as a pathway to improved governance and development.
The meeting concluded with a call for collaboration among all stakeholders to ensure that the new appointees effectively execute their responsibilities for the benefit of the people of Apac District.
