MoPS Kicks Off Week-Long Induction Training for 271 Newly Recruited Staff in Apac

The Ministry of Public Service (MoPS) has commenced a week-long induction training for 271 newly recruited staff from Apac District Local Government and Apac Municipal Council. The training, taking place at the Apac District Council Hall, is aimed at equipping the new employees with the knowledge, skills, and ethical grounding required to effectively serve the public.

The comprehensive orientation program brings together staff across various departments, marking a significant step in strengthening service delivery within the District and Municipality. The initiative underscores the government's commitment to building a competent, accountable, and citizen-centered public service.

Speaking at the opening session, Mugarura Tusiime Adam, Assistant Commissioner HR Manager-Ministry of Public Service, emphasized the importance of professionalism, integrity, and adherence to the public service standing orders. The recruits were reminded that public service is a calling that demands discipline, transparency, and responsiveness to community needs.

The training covers key areas including public service regulations, performance management, financial accountability, records management, customer care, teamwork, and the code of conduct for public officers. Participants are being oriented on anti-corruption measures and the importance of safeguarding public resources.

Ms. Janet Odongo Akech, Principal Assistant Secretary, Apac District, welcomed the Ministry’s intervention, noting that proper induction of staff lays a strong foundation for improved efficiency and coordination across departments. She urged the new officers to uphold teamwork and maintain a high standard of ethics while executing their duties.

For many of the recruits, the training presents an opportunity to better understand government systems and expectations before fully assuming their roles. Participants expressed optimism that the knowledge gained will enhance their performance and enable them to serve communities more effectively.

The week-long engagement is expected to conclude with practical sessions and interactive discussions, ensuring that all participants leave with a clear understanding of their responsibilities within the public service framework.

As Apac District and Apac Municipal Council continue to expand service delivery structures, the induction training signals a renewed focus on professionalism and improved governance at the local government level.
