Don Mo Contractors Ltd Hands Over 12.7km NOSP Road to Apac District

Apac District has registered a significant milestone in road infrastructure development following the official handover of a 12.7-kilometer Atopi-Amin-Apok-Anyapo-Ayeng road constructed under the National Oilseed Project (NOSP) by Don Mo Contractors Ltd to the Apac District Local Government.

The commissioning ceremony was officiated by the Deputy Resident District Commissioner, Mr. Richard Kar Tabaaro, who commended the contractor for delivering the project and emphasized the government's commitment to improving rural infrastructure to enhance socio-economic transformation.

The road project, which commenced on 4th April 2025, was constructed at a total cost of UGX 1,228,203,618. After months of dedicated work, the road is now complete and ready for use by the community.

Speaking at the event, Eng. Aguma Tom Edward, Senior Engineer-Apac DLG, highlighted that the road will play a crucial role in boosting agricultural productivity under the National Oilseed Programme. The improved road network is expected to ease transportation of oilseed crops and other farm produce to markets, reduce post-harvest losses, and lower transport costs for farmers.

Community members expressed gratitude to the Government of Uganda and Apac District Local Government for prioritizing their area. They noted that poor road conditions had previously limited their access to reliable markets, affecting their income and productivity. With the new road in place, farmers are optimistic about better market linkages, increased trade, and improved household livelihoods.

Local leaders urged residents to take collective responsibility in maintaining the road to ensure its sustainability and long-term benefits.

The completion of the 12.7 km Atopi-Amin Apok-Anyapo-Ayeng under the National Oilseed Project marks another step forward in strengthening rural road infrastructure and supporting agricultural commercialization in Apac District.
