APAC District—1-7-2025— The District Executive Committee, led by the District Chairperson Ikomba Asanti Odongo, held a three-day comprehensive monitoring exercise of capital development projects across key service delivery departments—Health, Education, Production, and Water—for the Financial Year 2024/2025.

This initiative is aimed at ensuring transparency, accountability, and effective implementation of government-funded projects to improve service delivery and promote sustainable development across the district.

Speaking during the monitoring visit, the District Chairperson emphasized the importance of timely execution and quality assurance in all capital development initiatives.

“We are committed to making sure that every coin allocated to these projects translates into real value for our people. Monitoring is not only a statutory responsibility but also a moral duty to ensure services reach the intended beneficiaries,” said the Chairperson.

Key Highlights from the Monitoring Exercise:

· Health Sector:
Inspection of ongoing construction and renovation of health facilities, including maternity wards, staff houses, and latrines, and installation of equipment at the health facilities. The team assessed the availability of essential equipment and drug storage capacity to strengthen primary healthcare.

· Education Sector:
Visits to schools benefiting from classroom construction and renovation, latrine improvement, and provision of desks. The team evaluated contractor performance, project timelines, and community engagement.

· Production Sector:
Review of agricultural infrastructure projects such as micro-scale irrigation schemes and post-harvest storage facilities. Discussions were held with extension workers and beneficiary farmers on challenges and opportunities for improved productivity.

· Water Sector:
Monitoring of borehole drilling and rehabilitation and piped water supply schemes. The team assessed functionality, community management structures, and sustainability of water sources.

The District Executive was accompanied by the Resident District Commissioner, technical officers, local leaders, and community representatives to ensure inclusive oversight and real-time feedback from beneficiaries.

The monitoring exercise will continue through the quarter with periodic reviews and reports to be submitted to the District Council and relevant oversight bodies, including the Office of the Prime Minister and the Auditor General.

The District remains committed to transparency, value for money, and citizen-centered service delivery. All stakeholders are encouraged to participate actively in monitoring and safeguarding public investments in their respective communities.
