APAC DISTRICT ROLLS OUT REVENUE MOBILISATION MEETINGS WITH LOWER LOCAL GOVERNMENT LEADERSHIP
Apac, Uganda —Apac District Local Government has officially rolled out a series of revenue mobilization meetings with leaders from the Lower Local Governments as part of its renewed commitment to strengthen local revenue collection and management.
The initiative is aimed at creating a platform for dialogue, sensitization, and joint planning with sub-county, town council, and parish leadership to enhance efficiency in local revenue mobilization. This drive comes as a strategic step towards improving service delivery by boosting the district’s capacity to generate its own revenue.
While addressing the local leaders at Akokoro Sub County & Town Council on Wednesday, 27th August, 2025, the Principal Assistant Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Ms. Janet Odongo, emphasized the importance of building a shared understanding of existing challenges in revenue collection and working collectively to devise practical solutions. She noted that effective mobilization would reduce over-dependence on central government transfers and ensure more resources are available for development projects within Apac District.
The LLG Chairpersons commended the initiative and called on all stakeholders at the Lower Administrative Units to take ownership of the process by sensitizing communities on the value of paying local revenue. They further reiterated that accountability and transparency will be key in building trust between citizens and the district leadership.
The meetings, which were rolled out in Akokoro Sub County and Town Council, will run across all eight Lower Local Governments (Sub Counties: Akokoro, Apac, Apoi, Chegere, Ibuje, and Teboke & Town Councils: Akokoro and Ibuje) in the district with the expectation of strengthening collaboration, improving compliance, and ultimately raising the levels of locally generated revenue to support community development priorities.
