APAC DISTRICT LAUNCHES DISTRIBUTION OF 150 KENYA TOP BAR HIVES UNDER UCSATP

The Apac District Chairperson, Hon. Ambrose Agech, officiated over the launch of distribution of 150 Kenya Top Bar Hives supplied under the Uganda Climate-Smart Agricultural Transformation Project (UCSATP) to support beekeeping enterprises and enhance household incomes in the district.
The hives were handed over to the Laruda Beekeepers Group of Iping Village, Dam Ward, Akere Division, Apac Municipality, as part of the government's efforts to promote climate-smart agriculture, improve livelihoods, and strengthen environmental conservation through modern apiculture.
In his remarks, Hon. Agech expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) for supporting farmers in Apac District through the Uganda Climate-Smart Agricultural Transformation Project. He urged the beneficiaries to make proper use of the equipment by maintaining the hives, adopting good beekeeping practices, and ensuring effective management of the bee colonies to maximize honey production and improve household incomes.
The District Chairperson emphasized that government investments are intended to transform communities economically and encouraged the beneficiaries to safeguard the equipment so that it can benefit both the current members and future generations.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr. Okoo Bosco, Chairperson of the Laruda Beekeepers Group, thanked the Apac District leadership, MAAIF, and all stakeholders for selecting the group to benefit from the project. He pledged that the members would take good care of the hives and other equipment, manage the bees responsibly, and work together to ensure the project achieves its intended objectives of increasing honey production and improving livelihoods.
The distribution marks another milestone in the implementation of climate-smart agricultural interventions aimed at enhancing resilience, increasing agricultural productivity, and creating sustainable income opportunities for farming communities in Apac District.
